The New Zealand Health Information Service has maintained the New Zealand selected health professional workforce data collection since 1995.
This publication contains data about the active selected health professional workforce in New Zealand in both the public and private sectors who were sent invoices for an Annual Practising Certificate in February 2006. The data was obtained by means of a questionnaire which accompanied the invoice for each certificate.
The 11 professions included are midwives, osteopaths, optometrists, dispensing opticians, chiropractors, dietitians, medical laboratory scientists, medical laboratory technicians, medical radiation technologists, podiatrists and psychologists. Data presented for each profession consists of numbers, age, sex distribution, ethnicity, employment setting, work type, country of qualification and number of hours worked.
