National Health Index
NHI Training Package
The Ministry of Health is committed to supporting the development of health professionals and health administration staff who have a role to play in the use of the National Health Index (NHI). To gain the knowledge and skills required to use NHI data effectively, staff must receive the appropriate training. The Ministry is assisting by providing this National Health Index Training Package for you.
The package has resources to teach participants how to use the NHI. The package is structured firstly as a workshop to be delivered as a Train the Trainers session in full. However, the package can also be delivered in parts to staff. Once the trainers have completed their training in full, they may deliver parts of the package to staff either all at once, or in short and regular time slots. If so, it is recommended that the full package (or the sections that apply to the participants according to their roles) is provided sequentially and in full over a short timeframe.
This training pack includes the following resources.
- Trainers’ notes (PDF, 92 kB): A guide to the package and other useful information for the trainer.
- Training action plan (PDF, 72 kB): Template for sector trainers to plan training in their areas.
- Session plan (PDF, 104 kB): A workshop session plan for training sector trainers and staff.
- Session manual (PDF, 120 kB): A session manual to take away from the Train the Trainers workshop.
- Workshop presentation (PowerPoint file, 464 kB): A workshop presentation to illustrate the workshop components and help with the more complex areas of the training.
- Staff brochure (PDF, 1 MB): Staff brochures to help answer frequently asked questions about the NHI.
- Needs assessment (PDF, 116 kB): A needs analysis to improve a standardised approach to using the NHI.
