Maternity Snapshot 2006
This snapshot provides provisional summarised information on the numbers of women who have given birth in hospital; and the number of liveborn babies that were born in hospital or admitted to hospital following birth outside a hospital setting in the 2006 calendar year.
This document utilises information reported to the National Minimum Dataset (NMDS).
The 2006 data is provisional only and may be subject to change.
The information presented on the mothers include demographics, such as age and ethnicity; delivery method and delivery outcome by plurality (i.e. single or multiple babies delivered). While for the babies, demographics, such as sex and ethnicity; birthweight and gestational age are presented.
The tables can be downloaded in Excel format (Excel, 1 MB)
The complete hospital-based maternity dataset for 2006 is expected to be published late 2009.
